Pinnacle: Capturing the Essence of PNW Art & Nature

A Personal Reflection by Erin Oostra, Owner of Nuwave Gallery

In the heart of Ellensburg, Washington, Nuwave Gallery stands as a beacon for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. As the owner of Nuwave Gallery and an artist myself, my journey into the world of painting was as serendipitous as it was inspiring.

I have always been creative but didn't pursue painting until after college- where I studied Graphic Design. My career in Seattle, working in marketing and design for renowned companies like Nordstrom, Picmonkey, and Shutterstock, provided a solid foundation. However, it was the allure of the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty that truly ignited my passion for art. I began to create art pieces in my spare time, and as my collection grew, I started to sell more and more of them.

Nuwave Gallery is not just a personal venture; it's a shared space with Fortuity Cellars wine tasting room. I share my own art here but also find great joy in bringing other artists in, promoting them, and helping them sell art as well. The collaboration with Fortuity Cellars was a fortuitous turn of events that aligned perfectly with my artistic vision. Surprisingly, I never set out in my career to have a gallery; it's something that fell into place as I started painting more and more.

Our latest show, titled "Pinnacle," is a celebration of the Pacific Northwest's natural splendor. Featuring artists whose work embodies the spirit of the region, the show promises to be a captivating exploration of mountain summits, milestones reached, and capstone pieces. Each piece is a reflection of the artist's connection to the region, offering viewers a glimpse into the soul of the Pacific Northwest.

My mission at Nuwave is to showcase artists, create a space for people to gather, and support those who help make our communities better. The gallery's Community Wall, which highlights all creatives and gives back to the community, is a testament to my commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and inspiration.

As the opening night of "Pinnacle" approaches, anticipation builds among spectators and fellow artists alike. The theme's resonance with the Pacific Northwest's awe-inspiring landscapes is expected to draw a crowd eager to immerse themselves in art that captures the region's rugged charm and ethereal beauty. For me, this event is not just about showcasing art; it's about sharing a piece of the natural world that inspires us all.
